Hi all,
I would like to ask my hallowed Brethren which are the best books/cruising guides for taking my V42 through the french canal system to the med?
also any reccomended routes, must see stopover places?
i am thinking of taking a season to move her so time issues not important.

I found " Through the French Canals" by David Jefferson very useful.
Also look at "Inland waterways of France" by David Edwards -May. the latter is very comprehensive but not as user friendly IMHO
You will also need the Navicarte chart books for your route - I gather they have been recently revised, I found the previous set hopelessly out of date and innaccurate, so make sure you get the new ones.
You will I am sure have a memorable trip.
Some highlights are Paris, Challons sur Saone, Avignon, Arles - so many places. Be realistic though - its not all sunshine and roses - there are some long days with nothing but plane trees to see and nowhere much good to stop.
