I get 4 Portuguese channels via my aerial:

RTP1 RTP2 SIC and TVI

and there's a reasonable amount of English programming with Portuguese subtitles... but looking at teletext, there seem to be other channels with even more English TV. Should I be getting more through my aerial?

Has Portugal got Freeview yet... it might be worth trying a DVB-T box from England?

Any ideas or info welcomed.

Just looking into the same subject for our place on the Algarve. They do have freeview but am told you need a fair sized sat dish to receive and have been quoted about 500 euros. Hopefully some knowlegable forumite can supply chapter and verse

I wasnt thinking about a satellite to watch UK Sky, where the dish needs to be about 1.4m according to the stuff I've read, (bit big for my boat or even most boats... OK alongside, but how would you store it?)

I was thinking of the little boxes which get loads of channels down a normal aerial... the technology is DVB-T.

The reason I ask is that I have found some sites selling DVB-T
stuff in Portugal, but other info sites say that trial dont start until 2007, so am confused as to why the gear would be for sale?

I spent winter 2004/5 on a campsite in Albufeira, along with dozens of other Brit camper vans. Most people had satellite TV but I never saw a dish as big as 1.4 metres. Majority seemed to be about 0.8 - 1.0 metres which you may find easier to stow.
