I understand that serveral years ago one of the boating magazines classified Freemans as claasic. Anyone know if this is true and if so what does it mean in real terms.
If you look in some of the so called "Classic" car mags you will such motoring icons as the Morris Marina/Ital and BMC Allegro refered to as classics as well.. know what I mean?
As a classic car enthusiast as well as boatowner, I would sub divide "Classic" further.
Veteran and Vintage are covered by definition, in the dates that they cover, whilst pre and post war covers each side of the WW2. Classic can then be divided into Classic and Modern Classic.
What anyone decides to call Classic is really up to them. I might not think an Austin Allegro a classic, but that's my view.
I would consider your Freeman 32 a "modern classic", for Freeman's contribution to motor boating in that era.
For something to be called "classic " shurely it must have had some class when it was new. Freemans were among the early users of grp and were known for good quality interiers so IMHO they rank as modern classics.
