We have recently bought a Freeman 27, it's condition is quite good. The cockpit area has straight vaneered wood sides, I feel that the void between these sides and the inside of the hull, below the side decks, is wasted as there is no access to them. Would it be sacrilege to cut into the wooden sides, installing a wooden door, to make use of this wasted void? Your opinions would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Steve.

I don't know if you are aware, but there is a very good boat yard at Moulsford on Thames Oxfordshire, who specialise in Freemans. They can offer advice on modifying Freemans, and even have the original manager of John Freeman's woodwork dept working with them. Have a look at their web site www.Freemancruisers.com. Super boat the 27, hope you enjoy it.
