Freebee day at Yarmouth.......IOW

Watch out. Yarmouth have a bit of previous when it comes to "offers". I tried to use a voucher worth 10 or 20 quid last year and ended up saving about a pound once they'd called in the small print.

The obvious one here is the word Day. Stay overnight and full fare applies I suspect. So in effect you're probably only getting a free short stay. Handy if you're based in Lymington, not much use otherwise.

Such a shame that Yarmouth which has gotta be the best harbour around and a great stopover has had it's reputation dragged through the mud and deservedly so in my opinion. Every time I go in there now I'm waiting for someone to take the pi$$ financially...
I know they need a return on their investment but surely that can be done without destroying their previous good reputation.

Don't get me wrong, I love Yarmouth as a place to visit. Many is the time we've tucked safely in there after a somewhat bumpy crossing from the West or the Channel Islands. After a trip to France it's a welcome re-introduction to Blighty. I don't think we've had a season without a stop off in Yarmouth.

For many, myself included, it was the introduction to pile moorings which has subsequently allowed them to be a bit more adventurous with their overnight options elsewhere, and there is no denying they have re-invested in their facilities.

It just leaves a bitter taste in one's mouth to feel you've been had over.

Didn't mean to shoot the messenger, sorry if it came across that way. Thanks for sharing the info with us.

Keep smiling.

Henry :)

I was only kidding, but on a similar vein, last year went up the Hamble river to collect my new (to me) boat which was placed by the broker on the public quay, where the pink taxis run from, I hadn't even stepped on to the bathing platform when the HM wanted Harbour dues, just for entering the river. needless to say he didn't get any money from me.
