I have a lovely old GP14, circa 1955, that must go to a new home. She's all wood and is holed on the s'board bow just back from the forefoot, although this is a fairly straightforward repair. I have all her gear and she has both road and launching trailer (good tyres and wheel bearings). The boat is near Happisburgh, the mast near Sheringham. She's presentable cosmetically and is certainly worth saving.

Free to a decent home in return for a few £ in the lifeboat tin.431873_4089231968419_1718820980_n.jpg

I have a Tideway that doesn't get sailed enough I'm afraid. I can thoroughly recommend a dinghy though for
A) light wind days
B) days when you don't have time for a longer sail in a big boat
C) days when you just want to drift on a river somewhere in the sun...

Someone might surely enjoy that...

One would have thought so, but sadly not! The dinghy has long over-stayed her welcome where she is and I have nowhere else to keep her. It sounds dramatic, but a coarse saw and can of petrol is looming. The odd thing is that when I put the trailers on eBay they'll create attention! Thanks for your reply though :)

I'd like to help, for sentimental reasons, but sadly, like others, have neither the time or storage.... When, in the sixties, I was a member of Gosport County Grammar Sailing Club (Now Bay House school I believe), we built a GP14 in the cellar under the Main Hall Stage, we already had one GP14 and an enlightened Hampshire County Council lent us an Albacore. My first Sailing experience.... heady days :).

Apologies for the thread drift.......

Could be just the job for a chum of mine. He's got work in progress on his Warrior but would benefit from a dinghy for encouraging jaunts. I've sent him text

I have a friend near Milford Haven who bought one recently for £99. He was truly chuffed, then a friend of his found one for £50 - which took the wind from his sails, so to speak.
Then he heard another friend had found one " come and take-it away, for nothing".
Popped his balloon!
All three are in good/very good condition.

Shame a past-age favourite is virtually worthless.

Personally, if there was one up here at £tiddly-winks I'd snap it up - perfect for teaching the grandchildren and tootling about the Bay.

Good luck to the OP getting it to someone who will appreciate it.

Roger says he's game and thanks very much. Needs to arrange tow vehicle and pick up date. Can u on me a contact number and I'll pass it on

That all worked out very well. Roger is pleased to bits with his new boat. I've had a look this morning and I'll have a scout around my meagre stocks of marine ply to fix the 'ole before winter sets in.

A happy ending then. I'm really pleased she's gone to a good home, an early boat that deserved to be saved. She's 1955 I think. Tell Roger to stick a fiver in the lifeboat tin next time you're in the pub!
