Chart Navigator is not a plotting program if that is what you were expecting, it can only be used for planning waypoints and routes. It comes free on every Maptech Chart CD. I only find it useful for its datum conversion tool.

I've got Maptech lite, which is the operating system they are offering free.
What they don't tell you is that the tidal info only works for a max of 2 years. Then you have to buy an update for £20 for the next 2 years. Mine lost its tides within 6 months and I had to call them and get a free update.
It's not a bad bit of software, but the charts have been scanned complete with pen scribbles which cannnot be deciphered at all and they do not have that vital element - the ability to view your route in toto and advance the clock to show changing tides along the route. Each tidal point has to be queried individually. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Its not bad for a basic tool - but as you say, getting the tidal information along the way is not easy - you can do it though - just advance your system time and the tides and flow will update....

its only meant as an introduction and leaves the features of the full ON program greyed out to tantalise you!

Would I buy it? Dunno - probably if we wern't contemplating a proper chart plotter/radar instead....
