Anyone ever managed to just sail straight through Teddington lock at high tide?

What tide height would allow this?

I'm hoping to cruise through at high tide this afternoon and it's a 5.23m tide.

Don't know why but this has fascinated me since I got my boat a year ago.

So excited that you've posted twice.
It's not really afternoon as I write this - soooo- did you manage it??

We managed it a few years ago, returning upriver with our club. I cannot remember how many boats were in our flotilla but I think that we all got through without stopping. Free flow only lasts for a few minutes and is only possible on spring tides.

We have also spent the night on the moorings above the lock during spring tides. Having got used to the roar of the weir, it was eerily quiet in the middle of the night when the tide started flooding up towards Kingston.

Couple of times but I lived in the flats opposite. More luck than anything else and in fairness you don’t really have to plan for it given it’s open 24 hours !
