Hi. I'm YM's Geoff Pack Scholar, and am looking for any readers with experience of 'fractional membership' with companies such as Sailtime, or buying to charter - either individually or through a company - for a forthcoming feature.

Please get in touch if you have any thoughts on/ experience of these schemes.

Thanks!

Sam

Hi Sam

I bought to charter and am now 3 years in with a management company in the BVI. I can give you full details - financial and otherwise.

I'm also a YM subscriber.

I'm considering buying to charter (see my earlier post) and would be grateful for your thoughts too - both positive and negative. I'm looking at Turkey rather than BVIs, but I'm sure that it won't be that different. Happy for either post or direct email.

Many thanks

Turkey is considerably different to the BVI. Turkey season is only around 5 months in total with most activity being compressed into 3 months. BVI is a 10 month season, only end of August to beginning of October (height of hurricane season) is there little charter activity.

Makes a big difference to the economics. I'll email or PM you, probably tomorrow.

Cheers

Hadn't thought of that! We had a week in the BVI's last year on a sunsail flotilla, which was most enjoyable. Got stranded in Tortolla a couple of years back too, after losing a blade off the prop having sailed from Antigua on the way to Charleston on a Challenge 67. Never made it to Charleston! Sorry, I'm rambling. Look forward to hearing from you tomorrow.

Regards
