I don't recall a problem with it thus far, although I'll pay more attention tomorrow.
If the weather forecast is right, we'll be running all the way to Emsworth tomorrow. I've had trouble running in the past, she doesn't seem to want to it. Any ideas?
Thanks Ken, I am glad you have said that because that was my plan!
It's a 110%er so I am optomistic it'll work. It may also afford the opportunity to staion SWMBO by the mast with the boathook to pole it out. I've done it myself in the past and it worked to an extent (half a kt) but I think it would have been better without the main.
Running can be tricky. You can get it going very quickly and if you all shuffle forwards you can get planing with enough breeze, but as the boat is a bit frisky on a run you'll be gybing before you know it, especially here where wind shifts try the patience of a saint. I tried a gybe preventer, but on the lake you're altering course too often to make it much more than a pain in the neck.
As TK says, much safer to "tack downwind" on broad reaches. It's an easy and controllable boat to gybe intentionally. It's also very quick on a broad reach, easy keep up with poxy Oceanis thingies. I think it's the flat aft section that helps.
