Getting the Mary Dear sorted out, not that there's much to sort...mostly exploring and making a few notes re upgrades I'd like to do. But one thing puzzles me...mast raising. I had hoped to be able to trail&sail to a certain degree, but I can't see how the mast should be raised. My three previous boats all had tabernacle setups...attached the shrouds and backstay, tied a line to the forestay, put the top bolt in, and pulled the mast erect, then inserted the bottom bolt and snugged down the rigging.
From what I can see, the Foxcub mast base slides into a track on deck...a tricky fit problem when using a gin pole to hold the mast suspended while one lines it up, and an apparent impossibility without one. Our slips, with few exceptions, don't have gin poles. Any insight would be very much appreciated!
