Fowey Harbour moorings

I use Fowey visitors mooring frequently during the summer and have done for more years than I care to remember . I have been particularly impressed with their Penmarlam pontoon ,for those who are not familiar with this pontoon one side is for visitors the other for yearly rented moorings .
Until this year it has alway been a pleasent experience to use this pontoon although not cheap at £15 PN it does have fresh water and direct shore access .
Lately it has been spoiled by a couple of the "resident" boat owners allowing their dogs to run freely on the pontoon barking at visitors and urinating on the fresh water hoses .
More concerning is now the dogs are getting more territorial and challenging any visiting dog that steps foot onto "their"pontoon causing mayhem .
Also on this pontoon the residents have now taking to run the "suitcase" type generators all hour of the night . Apart from the anti-social noise nuisance these generators are not suitable in a marine environment as they have to be "Earthed" by" staking" the ground. The whole case can be alive and be a danger to not only other boat users but the general public who have access to this pontoon . (Maybe some of you electrical wizzkids can elaborate or comfirm the dangers of these gennys being used as described)

Am I the only one who has noticed the downhill trend of this attractive pontoon ?? Time to seek other destinations me thinks .!!

Why not complain to the harbour master. - I am sure that there are rules about when you can run generators - weymouth certainly has them. It would be a shame to give up

I spent last week on the Penmarlam pontoon, I have to say it was very pleasant. Got on well with a couple of the residents and didnt see any loose dogs or generators. Maybe I was just lucky. But the place was very very busy, rafted 4 deep on several nights.

Oh and the sun shone all week /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Piccie of the Northern (Resident) side of the pontoon.

We've only stayed on the grid iron pontoon, just opposite the clay works, just no water, or shore access and the chance of looking out the port hole and seeing a huge ship manouevering just yards away...
Lovely place...

Yes -totally agree - ban dogs anywhere near boats, quays, jetties, marinas, beaches etc. Same for generators - if owners don't understand just push it in the harbour - dog, generator and residents or visitors if they're the problem. Quid pro quo
