Forward Looking Sonar

Yes they are excellent. Mine was great till the tranducer was destroyed in a grounding. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I had Interphase. I found it rather pointless, frankly, despite using it on the US East Coast and the Bahamas where you might have thought it would be of benefit. I found that by the time you had interpreted the display you had no time to react. In deep water it works better because it looks at the bottom further ahead of the boat - but you don't need it in deeper water.
I know that others on this forum swear by them but I wouldn't spend the money again. A good depth sounder/fish finder would be a better choice I think.
The Interphase had an extremely irritating feature that may be corrected by now; you couldn't adjust the display intensity, so that at night it was like having a TV set strapped to the binnacle!

I have the basic echopilot bronze and it works very well. Much more re-assuring knowing whats just ahead, rather then underneath right now.
Bit of a pain as my boat can beach, but not without removing the transducer.

I have the echopilot, put it in for cruising around the Med, but was very dissapointed. In shallow waters it cant see far enough ahead, in deep water u dont need it.

If it was cheap (or u have money to burn) then might be worth it, but at current prices I wouldnt buy one again.
