Sounds like the poor workman blaming his tools. With boat tanks rarely rectangular in form, tank guages are very much just a rough guide. If your log book contians entries for refuelling and engine hours, as it should, then after a little experience with the boat, observing your log should be the best guide to your fuel tank contents, not a guage.

Oh who's a clever dick then? But I was not at the helm at the time. Appears they is a relay problem or something! But then what do I know! Engine is fine but according to the resident engineers its a starter connection or something!

Actually it's a bit more complicated than that but, due to the shame element, I won't discuss it on a public board.
