All you experienced forum posters, often talk about meeting up with"

Would be good if there could be some meet up where we could all go, I know there are a few a long way away but an area in the middle could be good.

Any suggestions from you "older ones"

Do you mean meet up on the water, or down the pub?

If on the water, its a while since we last had a bigish organised meet (think Yarmouth 2006 was the last?) and I would be up for another.

If its the pub, there are a couple of reasonably active local meets that are quite good fun.

Great idea, preferably to go by boat. Folly, Yarmouth, Lymington?

Years ago, there used to be umpteen forum meetups, parties, alsorts, folk thought nothing of steaming 100 miles. Dont happen now, maybe it;s the weather. Theres the odd meet up of a couple of folk, but largly unpublished. Anyway I'm in Wales now, so cant help, mind I've had a good few meeting up the Solent when berthed in Plymouth!!

This may be pure delusion on my part, but I got the impression that, while I was away in the summer, there was an initial conversation about a meet up in the Hamble area next spring, possibly at Mercury. Like I say, it may have been an hallucination, brought on by excess consumption of Medronho. Watch this space, maybe?

I see you're Solent based; I'm South Coast-ish and always ready to consider a tincture or two at a pub somewhere, in the meantime, although I am still recovering from the excesses of the Scuttlebutt Cherbourg outing. What we really need to do is move to Wokingham, because they're all permanentlly on the piss there /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Yes, I agreed to organise another bash simimilar to the previous Mercury meets, but I won't start anything till next Spring, or it will all fizzle out.

or for europe mainland forummates at Boot Dusseldorf ?
I'll be there a couple of days' /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

We used to have some great gatherings, but interest seemed to die.

We had some super times with gatherings of boats at Wareham, Poole, Swanage, Yarmouth, Newtown, culminating with the really top events at Mercury organised by Brendan and MDL.

Real good times with the likes of Happy1, Col, Powerskipper, BarryH, Duncan, Chas25, and BrendanS, of course, to name a very few. I think the Mercury do's used attract 150 people or more.

This get together at Wareham might bring back a few memories to some, October 2002, if I remember.

Nice one Geoff. Those were the days.

The early Wareham meet kicked off all the others, as we stood outside the pub just opposite, supping pints, meeting people we'd never met outside the forums, when far fewer members, and discussing the fact it would be great to do it again, and where, and when.

Those early meets were wonderful, and no reason we can't recreate them. Do you remember the Wareham meet thread that was the biggest single thread at the time?

Or was it?

Wokingham area, is actually south central. Most of us have boats from Brighton to Hamble, meeting in the pub is a not a major p!ss up really but usually very entertaining as 'Hurricane' and 'djefabs' have recently made a long passage with stories to embelish! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Jez, as most of you will know made several trips of a lifetime with Greece and Sweden. Tie that up with Newly owned cool boats with great naming ceremonies from Princess and Fairline and you have good reasons to have a wee dram. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Apart from pub meets, locally it's easy to get 4-5 boats together, beyond that number, major organising is required as Brendan said. Then you'd get into weather forecasts and berthing restrictions and so on.

Some of the best meets happen when least expected and unplanned and believe it or not, quite often.

So I get your forum flags flying and see how many you can find. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Sounds like you lot need a Forum meeting Consultant from the East Coast.

Go to their forum and have a browse. On water, on land, probably upwards of a dozen prompted or unscripted meetings every season.

We find that red wine is a fab lubricant.
