Sigh... We lived at Langstone in the 60's and the parents of a friend of mine (Patrick Emery) owned the Ship. Used to creep in and get freebies, never made me a binge drinker. I learnt to sail at Langstone where Dad kept a small cruiser. Used to love the Royal Oak too. That was in the days when the Puffing Billy still ran to Hayling. Happy days, have a pint or 10 for me.

Tell me about it, I can remember trying to moor 40footers outside the Ship for brochure photographs some years ago...20 minutes and get out again! Only just time for a swift one. I go by car or taxi these days!

Well. I'll be lucky to cross the channel this year let alone the Atlantic, but hope to be there, work permitting.
