Should we?

That kind Mr Gates of MDL Thames Marinas has offered a complimentary visitor mooring for the evening of the event and free membership to their cruising club should we impose upon them at Windsor at the weekend of the first May Bank Holiday. Something to replace another event what does not appear to be 'appening this year.

Fish and chips are also possible at a nominal fee.

What does the forum say?

Would love a get together, but not on MayDay weekend as will be in Portugal.

Would be happy for peeps to suggest a different date...

You've pipped me to the post, Gavi. I was going to suggest we try to arrange another meet-up this year, but later in the season as we have done previously.

The demise of the TVR does, on the face of it, leave a void at the beginning of May but Bray, Penton Hook and no doubt other clubs all have things happening and , from what I hear on the grapevine there are also those who would normally have supported the TVR arranging their own impromptu gatherings at that time.

Last time we met at Windsor, we were able to use the TWYC clubhouse and you would need to see when that is available.

Later in the season also makes sense as the ATYC Rally (August Bank Holiday weekend) is at West India Dock this year so many of the upper river boaters will probably not support that.

Early September would be my choice - but I hope you get more interest than we did when I tried to arrange something last year !

I think we need to set a date fairly promptly like we did with the one at Byron's. It's surprising how just fixing a date concentrates the mind.

No date will be good for everyone.

OK. How about 3/4 September. Looks as if TWYC don't have anything on their calendar that weekend but we would need to check that they would be happy to have us visit.

Hmmmm.... just need to check the 2011/12 rugby calendar when it is announced as it is likely to be the London double header :(

Oh well, I do agree that setting a date now makes sense. Any other thoughts on that weekend?

yes, see you at the rugby.

or the forum meet.

I haven't even planned this weekend yet, I am always surprised when Christmas falls on the same date as the previous year! A random weekend in September has no hope :)
