We have one thread mainly condeming a person for setting sail, on the basis of a brokers statement to the press, and on the other hand anothe affirming our right not to be rescued. How many people have posted one thing on one thread and another on the other. Me I find the thoughts in either thread a trifle boring so didn't bother trying to count

We are all different people. Can't think why we should have the same stance on issues.
Has anyone contradicted themselves? Mind you they are quite entitled to.

There is no inconsistancy

It is foolish to set sail in certain conditions.. (which is why we are. ot sailing at the moment) ..

But if you are foolish, you have the right not to be saved from your own stupidity... Indeed I hesitate to suggest it, bit some in this Parish may nominate you for a Darwin should that come to pass..

We take risks.
We should know what the risks are and accept the consequences.

There is always an element of risk in sailing. Sometimes it's very small, sometimes it's significant.

The thing about the recent tragedy is that it is a bit close to home. It looks to be a risk (or cumulative effect of risk factors) that I would not take, but it's not ten times riskier than something that I would do or have done.

I expect the lady in question would have said my motorbike was unacceptably dangerous.
