I am in the process of purchasing a new inflatable.
The old one was a bit scruffy and in my mind unseaworthy. Beeing too lazy to carry it to the bins and also not knowing about the regulations re. disposal I was scratching my head as to what to do with it.
The good news is that I read on the forum that stealing of inflatables is a British passtime. So I inflated it, then surruptitiously left it on the pontoon, and lo and behold it disapeared over the weekend. Wunderbah!!

I once went to a sale of Police unclaimed lost property.

I think 99.99% of it was "lost" deliberately ! !

I once went to a police auction and bought a fancy dagger for my brother who was a collector. When leaving I did not think to conceal it and was taken into custody for being in possesion of an offensive weapon. It took me an hour to explain even then they confiscated it. I am still waiting for a refund. This happened 30 years ago.
Some of the crap there was definitly dumped.

People at our yard must be too honest, I'd have to go to a marina. When my last tender split from gunwhale to chine I gave it to the boatyard to put into their annual RNLI auction of unclaimed tenders. I think they kept it as a (relatively) floating painting platform until it sank once too often.
