Just got back from 2 week charter with swfyachts.com wow what a cruising area absolutley stunning we had dolphins dancing in our wake nearly every day at one time we had 10-12 all around the boat.
The area is a doddle to cruise its called the inter coastal water way its Very well marked with numbered markers nearly all the way the fishing is excellent caught fish nearly every day.
There are thousands of little sandy islands with palm trees and beaches with no one on them.
Marina facilties were dear but very high standard people meet you as you arrive to help you moor up and plug you in to electric.
We stayed at Captiva Island ,cabbage key,Graspilla island, venice,Useppa island ,Sanibel Island the average mooring fees we from $ 70 -$140 per night although it would be very easy to stay on the hook all night the boat had a gen
The boat was a bayliner 3988 not that good a boat but plenty of room and nice and clean ok for 2 adults and 2 kids and not too dear 2 weeks cost £ 2500
All in all the best cruising Ive ever done

sounds great - what qualification did you need for the charter? is an RYA ICC or dayskipper recognised in the states?

Must agree it is a fine area to charter as there is somewhere to go what ever the weather. The intercoastal law enforcement have been known to be very anal but on the whole a nice place to be.

Nice to see that. We think it's a super place to cruise, too and it's only a couple hours away from us. As for police, you hardly ever see any, but if you need them they are there quickly. $140 a night was a bit steep; where was that? Captiva?

I was once snorkelling around my boat at anchor close to the Intracoastal W when I came face to face with an adult manatee and baby. They are bloody ugly and very big!! They are harmless, but I got out of the water pretty quickly.
