Hi I have had a dedicated forestay fitted for a storm Jib the riggers have located the stowage point a u-bolt on the starboard side between the forward lower shroud and the cap shroud, so far so good but they have located it some 6 ins inboard just where you need to walk, is this standard for some reason

My removable forestay is also attached on the starboard side, but out of the way (Sigma 362). I will send you a picture of where it is attached if you want.

It sounds a bit like they took the easy way out and fixed it where they had easy access under the deck for the fixings. 6 inches inboard is not practical but what do they care - they aren't going to have to live with it!

I think that the u-bolt is attached to the chainplate, as the shrouds. I guess that the shrouds on my boat are more inboard (in fact, they can't be more inboard), so they are not in the way. My inner forestay is stowed at the same place than the forward lower shroud but it is too short to be attached directly there, so it is attached to the u-bolt via a short rope. Can't see why you can't do the same?
