foresail UV strip

Really depends on the weight of the original sailcloth, for instance a 5oz sail can rot in two good seasons.
So taking it off,it's not really worth putting a load more holes in the sail.Swapping sides, the strip cloth glue will be on the new exposed side, and the adhesive tape will leave marks too on the sail cloth.Very difficult to get off.
Best option if gear allows, run the furling line the other way round the drum. The sail would hopefully last a couple of seasons,it's lifespan will be reduced though, having UV exposure on the sail side.

Thanks Cindy, good to hear a professional opinion. My furler can operate in both directions and it would look OK when furled but tatty when unfurled, that's my concern.
