The new boat has the above engine and despite the efforts of 5 persons I can't find the dip stick - also does anyone of the gurus know whee I can get an engine manual?

I have no idea but when I saw Fordson, the first thing I thought was Vintage tractor. If you get no luck here, you might want to try and see if there is a forum for tractor fans?

It may look like a knurled knob on the side of the engine. . This has the dipstick attached to it. Unscrew knob and wihdraw dipstick.

On the tractor its on the passenger (port) side inline with cylinder number three.
Halfway along the starter motor, at the end of the toolbox.
Its like a big split pin that springs apart to hold itself in place. Squeeze it together to replace it.
