Hi
My Mitchell 31 mk 2 is powered by a Ford sabre 225…….. does anyone know what the turbo boost should read under load at 2000rpm? It’s currently under 10 lbs/ sq inch
Thanks for any info

What boost are you getting at 2k RPM?

We've a pair of 250 Sabres, the turbos kick in around 1300RPM and at 2000 show around 6lbs2".

29 knots @ 2000rpm, that's flying ??

And 15lbs of boost, I need to check the accuracy of our gauges ?

That was take 2 days in to the start of a season, clean bottom / clean props, max boost is about 25lb/in2.
Hi Ben…?

According to the Sabre owners manual a 212C [it doesn’t list the 225] must be propped to achieve at least 2500-2600 rpm and in a planing hull should make 15psi boost at 2000rpm. 17.5psi at 2250 and 19psi at 2500.

Your semi displacement Mitchell hull will load the prop somewhat differently. Make sure you can make 2500 wot and work back from there.

My 320Ls are quite underpropped and are only making 10 psi of boost at 2000 rpm, I need another inch or so of pitch.
