I had a problem with my 2715E (6 cylinder, normally aspirated) engine. It started to pressurise the cooling system, blowing water out of the header tank. Although there was no signs of water in the oil I suspected the head gasket. Having now installed a new gasket, (expensive), I am horrified to find that it hasn't solved the problem.
Suggestions anyone ?

Had a problem like this on my work boat engine, turned out the heat exchanger stack in the header tank had been eaten away and the sea water (raw water) cooling pump was pressurising the header tank. This caused it to constantly leak out the overflow pipe.

Assuming it's indirectly cooled then it sound like you have a leak on the heat exchanger( or less likely the oil cooler if fitted), see if the header tank has sea water in it. If it has get that and the oil cooler if fitted to a radiator specialist for a clean and pressure check. The tube one's are repairable the waffle (volvo) ones aren't.

Well what about pressure testing it to begin with !!.
ASAP in Beckles do new reed tubing kits which may be a cheaper way of sorting the heat exchanger out.
Cheers

Err be careful tasting water in header tank glycol antifreeze tastes sweet but is deadly.
Other worst cases: cracked head, cracked liner, faulty thermostat. faulty engine water pump. Check to see if oil insump is emulsified ( gone milky ) if it has water is leaking into oil also.
Soz to be doom laden but these things usually happen to me.

no body has mentioned ,

exhaust manifold Water jacket may be leaking, as I assume it is jacketed in a similar way to the 150 turbo.

Good luck

At the risk of teaching grandmothers, you can test the heat exchanger by disconnecting the sea water pump and running the engine up. You will have some time before the freshwater coolant reaches operating temperature and this should be long enough to see if the header tank is still being pressurised.
