Theres a couple of versions. Lancing use the Turkish produced lump with mechanical injection. If you source one from a road vehicle they're electronic injection. If you get one from a a van/car you need a fair amount of the electronics too. Even stuff down to the brakelight switch. Its used for the service reset. I made that mistake the first time round.
If you get a secondhand engine your going to marinize then check check and check again the bottom end, con rods and cams. Its not unknown for them to drop number 1 con rod. My first one did this. Goes with a big bang trashes ther block but does look/sound impressive!!
The cooling stuff for boats is fairly expensive. On the up side you can play with the fueling and turbo to up the power a bit. I've had mine on the dyno and its pushing just under 160 horses quite happily. I wouldn't push it much higer as it'll be nin danger of going bang again. Fairly good lump to use with an outdrive as they're fairly high revving for an oil burning donk. Cheap'ish sapres wise as most stuff will come from local car bodgit shops. Only down side its a pig of a job to set the cam timimg up and if it breaks a cam belt it trashes the engine.
Not a lot else really......it is a ford after all.
