I have a Ford Lehman engine which has an pump/impeller installed, next to which on the hull of the boat is marked "Johnson 1027 impeller" in permanent marker. I also have an old PDF for the Ford Lehman's marinisation parts which says the impeller is a "Jabsco 1210-0003".

ASAP sell the Johnson 09 1027B and the Jabsco 1210-0001 which seem to be interoperable.

I took off the cover plate to have a look at the installed impeller and figured it'd be worth replacing it. Noted also that the cover plate is showing wear in the shape of the impeller cavity.

Questions.

Is it worth me replacing the cover plate only (as in not the far end wear plate also)? And is this very likely the correct cover plate for my pump (it has the same number of holes, and matches the part number in my old PDF, which I think is likely the right one based on the above, which says it's a "Jabsco 11830-0000")?

I note that ASAP also sell this corresponding part:

Is it worth replacing that also? Looking at my old PDF it seems that it might be quite difficult to get that out - it seems it usually comes with a "cam and wearplate assembly"...

On land running of the engine showed it did suck water in as it was, so maybe fine to just replace the cover?

If you are replacing the cover then consider a Speedseal - much better job, easier to remove and replace (without losing the little screws in the bilge), seals better and the latest design has a run dry facility.
