Ford Lehman SP135 - mysterious stopping!

I have a Ford Lehman SP135 in my boat and it has started stopping (if you know what I mean!) at random intervals. It'll give a hiccup or two and then stop. Sometimes it will start again straight away, but very occasionally not. However, it will always start again from cold. This mysterious stopping can occur during a trip at constant speed or when manouevering (ie with frequent changes of throttle setting). Have changed all fuel filters (weren't dirty) and now the lift pump. Problem continues - does anyone have any bright ideas as to the cause.

PLUS can anyone confirm that this 1989 engine is based on a Ford Dorset 2725 engine? Many thanks

I have 2 of these engines, have always run without any problems. I suggest you re-post on mobo or PM Latestarter, our resident diesel engine expert.

Yes just go to the motor boat forum and re-post or search for late starter and send him a personal message. But I expect the post will elicit a response.
