Further to my recent posts have found out why my engine wouldnt start.have been advised by previous owner that the stop lever did not always return fully on the injector pump.!!
Now runs well.thanks for advice though.
One of the mechanical tachometers has stopped working.have put drill on cable and dial works fine.took the drive unit out from engine and all seems ok. Not sure if the problem is with the drive cog which presumably is connected to the camshaft?
The shaft on the drive unit has a flat bar attached to the bottom which presumably locates on the cog on the camshaft.
Cant find anything in manual dealing with this unit, does anyone have any knowledge of this ie is it possible to remove the driving cog from the camshaft without pulling the engine apart.the alternative would i guess be to convert both tachs to electrical?
As always all advice gratefully received.

page 23 may help? I took my bosch electric drive off and "powered" from the W TERMINAL on the alternator. The flat connector from the camshaft gear to the sender was worn out.

If your gauges are mechanical then you will have to replace them with electric ones. Remove the sender from the engine and start up, you should see the flat bar rotating?, or better still rotate with engine stop applied and you or the mrs watch the bar.
