Ford engined runabouts

Can anyone help?? Some time ago on TV there was a programme about small sports runabouts that were powered by the ford 1172 flathead engine. As I remember it there was no gearbox and as soon as the engine started - off you went. I would be very interested to hear if anyone out there has any pointers to or information on these little boats.

They are possibly Albatross's made of alloy very few around a number of them on the broads. usually sell for around £3500 in good condition.
