is there anybody out there, on their boat that has the ford Dorset (2712e) engine that can help me out. My boat is in Greece and I am in the UK and I want to take a new starter motor out with me at the end of the month. I know from the service manual that it is a lucas type M50 but the suppliers that I have tried are asking for a lucas part number. My favoured supplier is almost sure that it is LRS00212 but of course I would like to be 100% sure. If anyone can confirm this information I would be grateful.

If you are 24v I have one sitting in my garage, also got 12v just found. PS can I interest you you in an engine? it burns a bit of oil but well worth re-conning.

I had a pair of M50's that were completely siezed....I stripped them down, lubricated and replaced the brush assy and then cleaned up the commutator with fith fine emery cloth and bobs your uncle...they work fine...parts were £12 each

These are the parts...don't forget your WD40

I need help too...I have a 2722 that has stood for years, it turns over fine but won't fire...tried bleeding the fuel still nothing undid the injector pipes from the pump and no diesel squirting...applied 12volts on engine stop solenoid and still nothing...I have no idea....could the injection pump be blocked

Assuming the 2722 has the Minimec injector pump there are two vent screw towards the top, about level with the diesel input pipe.
Do you get fuel to this level using the lift pump?
