Hi, bought a colvic 22 semi displacement with the Ford 2712e based engine with a 1:1 gearbox, for family frolics and some fishing trips. Am learning fast about these great engines, and thankfully was guided to Lancing Marine for parts etc. But other information sketchy so figured would seek some experience based advice here.
Engine easily reaches max rpm, and easily exceeds (to 2800). So I figure is under propped, am asking for recommendations where to look for advice and if appropriate re-pitching or supply of new prop.
Secondly, what would be an advisable cruising rpm? Not looking for fuel economy/mi or hour, more for longevity of engine, best speeds to get to destination. I'd be happy to run at 2400 rpm all day long (currently anyway with the existing prop) but engine won't thank me for it. I've read opinion that 1800 is a good rpm, but also 2200 etc.
Thanks in advance.
