According to the flyer which came through the letterbox yesterday, Force 4's new shop in Cardiff is up and running. Address is given as Cardiff Marine Village, Penarth Road, so I'm assuming that it is near the new marina. I may go and have a look as today is so miserable weatherwise. Bit of competition for Marinescene perhaps?

same here. marine scene started out well (dont they all?) but became expensive and unhelpful when they moved down to their present site.

Agree - Bristol are pretty miserable and disinterested - oh and expensive - might change with the cool economic climate!

Marinescene v helpful and efficient

I went down there today on the off chance, and the building work is nowhere near finished. It is on Penarth Road opposite the Pumping Station antiques place. I've never had a problem with Marinescene, although for a while they offered lower prices on their web store than in the shop, which I didn't appreciate. I think they have corrected this now.

Richard was very helpful recently when I needed a couple of Barton blocks that aren't usually stocked. Plastimo are the distributor, and they were slow to get the order out, so Marinescene contacted Barton, who agreed to supply direct. I was able to collect them the following day.

In my original post, I wasn't criticising Mareinescene, just making an observation that they will now have more direct competition for our money.

I try and buy stuff from Channel Marine in Swansea when I can, as that's where the boat is.

Have to reiterate, Bristol Force 4 people are great, even taught SWMBO to splice!

I recently sent an email to a number of internet chandleries. They included Force 4, Mailspeed, Marinesuperstore, Jimmy Green and Marinescene. The email included a number of items I may need for Cobby girl in the near future. Force 4 said "look at the website". The cheapest price of all came from Marinescene, it was only after they got back to me that I realised they were in Penarth.

Force four people are GREAT. They have even lent me a talurit splicer for nowt. Nothing but helpful and friendly. I have used them for several years and they seem no more expensive than any swindlery. Too many yotties patronise them I think but if you ask for their opinion you will find them well informed and glad to assist. Force four is far better stocked than marineScene whose staff seem totally disintersted whenever I have had to visit them. All IMHO of course!

Still here waiting for F4 delivery. Not really worth going to boat if it does turn up....so another £40 for another week on the compound!
(off away for a bit)
