Force 10 at Mumbles

Met office reading today at 15:00: SSW 55mph / gusts 71mph. Which is more or less F10. But Mumbles always seems to have high wind readings. Same with Pembrey Sands (49/63mph) Is it the geographic location / funneling, etc, or is it REALLY that windy!?

Oh...and the CBYC weather station is reading 9.1 knots at 15:50. Are we on the same planet?

I would guess some funneling going on there in the ssw wind, I flew into Cardiff airport yesterday at about 16.00 and was dreading the landing cos of the strong winds, but a few wobbles on the final approach and that was it..phew.
