I enquired of Navionics how to extend the chart coverage of my Classic E80. The response may be generally useful;-

The only card available for purchase compatible with your card is the Navionics+ Updates card. The Navionics+ Updates card is a new, physical card available for purchase through our online store or a Navionics registered dealer: https://www.navionics.com/gbr/updates-downloadable.html

The Navionics+ Updates card is a blank 2GB card created for owners of old or expired Compact Flash cards. You are able to load any region onto the card, like the UK, Ireland & Holland region. You can download up to 2 GB of data and delete what you don’t need at any moment. This allows compatibility with most older GPS plotters. The Navionics+ Updates card does not update the card you already have - rather, it requires your existing card for activation. Once activated, the Navionics+ Updates card is your new card that you will use to access larger regions and additional data you may not have had previously on your existing card.

You will need to download the Chart Installer program in order to activate the card: Garmin | United States | Navionics Support

Following reduction of coverage and price increase I'm currently running C-Map and Navionics in parallel to assess wether C-Map , at their lower price = better value, could replace Navionics on all devices - app and card based.

So far looks as if Garmin/Navionics (arrogance) will be dropped.

On my newer plotter I quite prefer C-Map, after comparing the two.
