Does anyone know if there were recommendations following the disastrous Fasnet Race and the 1998 Sydney Hobart race (in which 5 yachts were lost)?
 
That's pretty much RORC requirements for ocean sailing. The only thing I would add is sat phone in the grab kept charged. It doesn't need a paid card for time as emergency calls are free. It is almost instant as is Inmarsat C whereas an EPIRB can take half an hour.

If you go down in mid ocean, I wouldn't have thought half an hour was going to make much difference and epirb is automatic. Not that I'm planning to put it to the test.
