We have got a DP-E trim cylinder with a slightly scored/pitted rod.
The pattern of the scoring is cylindrical, not longitudinal, It has been caused by us having to leave the boat with the leg fully up, allowing barnacles to attach themselves to the rod.
We are looking for a satisfactory method of filling this scoring. Our initial idea would be to do this with Silver Solder and then finely polishing it. Would this work, given that the part would be under water for half the day?
Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.
