It looks like there will be around 60 diners plus some welcome bar flies

We've organised a Scuttlebutt gathering and meal at the Yacht Club in Cherbourg Saturday evening 22nd September. It doesn't matter how you get there, or by which means

This will be our 5th such event. In the past, people have arrived by boat, ferry or by car. Perhaps we should have a prize for the most original method of arrival (which TK would have won several times). As far as we know, nobody has yet arrived by hot air balloon

Some stalwarts will make it a long weekend and St Vaast is a popular destination on the Friday, as is Yarmouth on the Sunday evening

Look forward to seeing you all

Hee hee

Reminds me of sailing with a very good friend who was a founder member of Saatchi & Saatchi. He was an acclaimed creative director and did a lot of his original work sitting on the foredeck with a pencil and notepad on our many channel hops together

They were after Halfords account and the best he could come up with was 'Britain's biggest bicycle chain'

Glad to hear so many can make it

I trust that the yacht club dress code is not too formal ?

it's not a real yacht club, Wiz, just the restaurant in the marina where they meet. Reasonable sailing attire is the norm.

There would be no point in tome dressing up anyway, because he'd still look a wreck. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Oh, there is no piss taking either, as you can tell.

You will definately lose points for using the ferry - cos its so big and ostentatious.
