I can't help feeling that we ought to organise a Solent Reception Committee, with fireboats spouting plumes of water, ticker tape welcome and a MoboChat escort flotilla to see tcm and crew through the last few miles of this epic voyage. The passage plan seems to indicate arrival mid week, which may put the kybosh on it, but I guess we could ask him to wallow around off the Needles for a couple of days, so that we could do the thing in style next Saturday?

Just a thought /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I wish to be associated with these sentiments

Matt and crew have a safe voyage - more important you get home safely than quickly.

Best Wishes

Don't worry I can provide the chart (well AA Atlas actually £1.99 from Tesco). I will bring my own safety gear. This is an ambitious voyage not to be taken lightly, I feel my experience could come in useful - I can even tell you which is the petrol and which is the diesel pump.

Just say when :)

I would be more than happy to have such an experienced helmsman aboard, for what is potentially as you rightly state an ambitious voyage. I will of course re-inburse any expences that you may incur ie. steak and ale pie and chips from the Ship Inn and may even stretch to an ice cream from ferry nab, should we decide that a direct route is too treacherous and opt to circumnavigate Belle Isle. I was condidering asking James (jim44) along as I know by recent posts that his tender is equipt with the latest outboard technology, and it goes without saying that he is a man with nerves of steel ideally suited to the type of hardships we will undoubtedly face.

Warning,

at the prices Shepherds charge you will need the following safety gear for that trip.
1. A full mattress to fall back on to after being presented with the bill.
2. A bottle of brandy to revive oneself after said fall.
3. A long luxurious lunch onbaord to understand why you do it!

For me the trip is twice as long and fraught with twice as much danger. For this reason I never attempt without at least 24 bottles of lager on board and a crew who can help tie up as well as drink the booze.!

I am up this weekend and the beer is in the boot.

Cheers

Paul

Re: when

Commmercial yachtmaster ah! Are you really happy with the motley band you have assembled. The last time a crew like that was seen the Captains name was Bligh (and that ended in serious tears).

I would bring with me a Powerboat Level 2 (non tidal),a 10m Swimming badge (sewn on trunks no less) a National Cycling Proficiency Certificate AND an "O" level in Geography. Ian would bring....errr... the Single Malt and Cigars.

Now THATS what I call competent crew.

Seriously, it sounds an exciting trip, stay safe and we look forward to hearing of your exploits.

Bon voyage

Martyn

Good to hear from you, it goes without saying that you are more than welcome to join our merry crew. Maybe it would be a safer less arduous passage if we formed a flotila of boats. Martyn, Jim and myself will have to use the stars in order to navigate as our vessel is not equipt with sat nav technology therefore if your craft has this as standard it will save time on the sexton. By the way strictly no women allowed, not because of the danger just because they only talk about recent purchases of Deckshoes and moan about the cost of neccesitys such as Tenders.

Hi Ian,

I think I have 2 of the said maps for this trip, it sounds good if not a little dangerous. I have my GPS enabled PalmV, normally used for Speed Camera detection, I could bring that along with the SPCity software for greater detail.

Might see you up there at the moment plan to be up Sunday leaving v early monday
