For goodness sake, why doesn\'t everyone cheer up.....

......................and enjoy their boats.

We are all very lucky that we have been able to indulge ourselves in a hobby that was probably the dream of most of us for many years before we actually got a boat.

Yes, we have our ups and downs (don't mention outdrives!!!!) but ultimately we surely do it for fun, if you are not having fun then stop it, sell your boat and do something else. That is exactly what I will do when I've decided I'm not enjoying it any more.

What is the matter with everyone, is it the weather?

Good mood today, went down to boat last night - no rain - no water in bilge. Thought had a small leak from outdrive but no, just bl**dy rain. Phew.

GMTV Forecast - Rain Sat., Rain Sun. Whoopee.

For a change its not the weather here. Yesterday was sunny and hot all day and today is even better. You might even think it is August, so out on the boat again to make the most of it. And as a bonus petrol has dropped to 91.9p a litre /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I don't think i've ever not been cheered up when thinking about my boat (Granted nothing much has one wrong)

The weather doesnt bother me, i'll go out hail, rain or shine (Only strong, unsafe wind will stop me)

Fuel tank is full for this weekend, 'Water day' is on Saturday, watersports and BBQ. nice

There is one Alcudia based forumite (no names, no pack drill) who is STILL trying to convince me that i would be better off in Holyhead!

Totally agree, if you talk it down enough it may come true!

(Sounds like we have a couple of prospective Daily Mail reporters in our midst.)

Re: For goodness sake, why doesn\'t everyone cheer up.....

Erm, I am always cheerfull, especialy now! The Italians are going home in droves, no more ribs flying all over the place, whats even better is the fact that I took cash in my paw off them for accommodation. Its 40 degrees today, a gentle force three and the tranquility of the island is returning, sheer bliss! think I will go for a swim now.

Re: For goodness sake, why doesn\'t everyone cheer up.....

Yes we must look on the bright side, the weather means I only get to use my boat half as much and loss of red diesel will mean it costs twice as much when I do.
So on balance no change, which must be good, I think /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif.

Re: For goodness sake, why doesn\'t everyone cheer up.....

Davy,

40 degrees and happy? Wow. I guess it's the humidity here, but over 35 and I'm not having much fun unless I'm inside with AC.

I guess you're talking about a dry 40 with a breeze under a bimini... would be better. Still hot.

Bloody hot here too - and no wind, and a mixed swell, so a bit uncomfortable /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Reminds me of the joke:

"Where did it all go wrong Mr. Best?"

Re: For goodness sake, why doesn\'t everyone cheer up.....

well I am cheered up, esp as I get to go on my boat in another week or so, and its based in the warm.

Whereas moving to Holyhead seemed a good idea at the start of the year, not so sure now...

Re: For goodness sake, why doesn\'t everyone cheer up.....

We are certainly enjoying our boat as much as ever. Took her to Brighton in April for a year - love it there - long walks, plenty to do - surrounded by lovely folks on the pontoons, more restaurants than you can shake a stick at.

Just got back from a superb three week trip to Paris - somehow managed to get great crossings both there and back at exactly the time we wanted to. Stayed at some wonderfull little places on the way there.

Had a day at Disney, dinner on the Bateaux Mouches a night at the Lido all in great company with plenty of food and wine.

The dear old Boat never missed a beat. We are happy, happy boat owners and certainly do not need to cheer up!!!

Re: For goodness sake, why doesn\'t everyone cheer up.....

Well said Martyn. Half full not half empty eh?

On that basis I'm sure if I buy another boat it'll be totally problem free /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
