Footpump or Stirrup Pump

Hi Sailors
Am faced with buying a new dinghy pump. I have to inflate my Avon dinghy on the foredeck with rather limited room.
How do the stirrup pumps compare with footpumps for efficiency and ease of use?

Tested in one of the latest comics. Seem to recall that footpumps win unless you need hi-presure for an airfloor.

Had a foot pump that came with the dinghy. Due to bad hip was not able to use it very well. Purchased a hand type pump works great and when tubes are full a valve blows out. It inflates on the up as well as on the down strokes.

YM this month concludes that the Bravo 9 foot pump is the best, Bravo 8 if you don't need high pressure for the floor tube.

Foot pump every time, just stick on the Jimmy Shand record and away you go!!

I have a hand pump which you can select to pump on both the up and down strokes or just on down. The former setting knackers me in about 5 pumps as was found in the YM test; I can only think Peter is a lot fitter than me!

I find a hand operated pump easier than trying to balance on one leg while pumping with the other.

Being quite tall, I found a hand plumb was hard work on my back.

There's a lot of difference between a stout, well made foot pump and the cheap shoddy things one usually get free with an inflatable or finds lining the shelves at the chandlers.
