We have a party of 14 going to the Folly for Saturday night, but they won't take a booking, as the few bookable tables are already booked.

The girl says "just Turn up and there will be plenty of space (8 pm)"

As I am organising the group, I don't want to find that they cannot accomodate us as it would be a bit late to go anywhere else! I haven't been there for years, so have no idea on space etc.

Anyone who knows it care to comment?

Things have certainly got quieter. The Folly have a very good reputation for ensuring everyone gets to eat, that's why they don't book every table out - you may not get the table for the evening but you will get it for duration of the meal.

Alternatively, if you want a definite booking, why not try The Lifeboat at East Cowes Marina. They do take bookings.

There's plenty of space at the Folly and it's almost inconceivable it will all be taken on a Saturday evening at this time of year. If it was summer, there may be some concern, but late October - no problem.

I was there last Saturday and it was noticeably quiet.

I would be confident that they would fit you in. The music area is bookable and they do 2 sittings. Not sure about the rest but they will just allocate tables when others finish - not sure you will all be sat together though.

'tis 14 not 40 so I wouldn't have thought it a problem at this time of year either. Though I would get everyone to pitch up at half 7 for 8, as 8 is a common start time and you could get your orders in before any rush.

Yes at this time of the year no problem - and as LadyInBed says, try and arrive earlier. It's always much quieter then.

It was pretty busy there the Saturday before last but they fitted in our party of 10 without a booking. The advance party went ashore in the afternoon, grabbed a table and valiantly stuck it out until the rest of us arrived. :D

Nigel - we will have ago

Just printed off a copy of your Blog for SWMBO to read..... (and me also)

Sorry to tell you this, there is a party of 80 booked in, from the Sealine owners club.
See you there?

Having spoken to Andy again, it appears that you are not the only big party. I think we will give it a miss, as it is sounding distinctly iffy! So have booked at the Lifeboat in East Cowes!

Anyway - enjoy yourselves!
