Following on from Catmandoo's thread he said he used 15 L . (I see his boat is 28' am I correct) I never thin antifoul and we use 10 L 5 L per coat applied by roller on a 48' mono hull.

Thats about right ! Manufacturers vary . Some say 2 coats per year or so . I like to think I can stay in water for about 2 years so I double it and add extra at leading and trailing edges

2.0 litres a coat on a 31' boat (no thinning).

I usually only need to put 1 coat on per season, doubles up on high erosion points.

I'm still reeling from the prices and quantities quoted by Catmandoo; finally decided the decimal point was in the wrong place.

Last year I was paying €40/2.5litre can.

Try the Algarve, 10L International 550 euro. I buy Jotun Seaforce 30 in 20L drums direct from their depot, around 280 euro last time, sell most of it for a small profit as I only use 5L on 38ft monohull.

The coverage varies from make and type up to 100%. Google the specifications for your chosen anti-foul before you buy it.

As an example I get 2 coats of Hempel Mille or Jotun SeaForce on our 54 foot boat using a little less than 10 liters, whereas with a cheaper brand I would most likely use 20 liters.

When you compare prices don't compare price / liter but use price / sqm of coverage instead.

Cheers,
Per
