got a pump an a hammer an some gloves, and set about
emptying the ice and water from the boat, hope this vid,
works to give a feel of the task in hand
the ice next to the oars shows the water level when we started,

without the phone camera i dont think i could describe that
with words alone,
at one point we removed a slab 30cm x 60cm and 4cm thick,
roll on hot sunny days  :D

Are there other boats berthed where you are? I would have thought someone would have phoned you when they saw the canopy had collapsed under the weight of the snow,

Anyway the ice/water looks suspiciously yellow......you didn't did you?

He may not have done, but the neighbours might have - hence why they didn't report it!!!!!

I think from memory Lewi's mooring is in a remote Loch in Scotland, so neighbours may be few and far between, especially this time of the year.

Its looks bloody cold though.....

staining due to leaf litter honest, and yes neighbour,s are very
thin on the ground so no one to alert me of events, the
frustrating part of repairing the damage is the fact i live
a 2hour drive from were the boat is kept, i also work
constant nightshift including weekend working, and
timing trips to work on the boat when there is a suitable
weather window all takes a bit of juggling ;) ,
on the up side most of the damage seams to be cosmetic
and should be sorted with a good dose of elbow grease,
i am not planning to put her in the water before the
middle of april so plenty of time to get is sorted,

now were did i put the sponge and the marigolds

Maybe next year if it looks extra cold again Lewi, you could fashion up some extra support internally with a pine frame.
Wouldn't have to be flash, attach the uprights and cross beams snugly under the existing permanent support frames to take up any extra load from the snow.

Don't forget some pics of the Loch when the sun starts up again. :)

Don't know about next year, but given the snow we have had over the last week, its probably worth putting in some supports ASAP. I hope the cleanup operation goes well Do post some pics afterwards
