OK so have not used boat over the winter but on lift out folding prop is seized in open position. Teeth area (& blades) full of marine growth.

I berth by going astern so hence prop parked in open position.

When I fitted it in June I thoroughly greased the teeth but now all gone.

Do you do anything that actually works on your prop?

It's a 19" 4 blade.

Currently feeling that's another reason why I prefer my previous feathering prop.

The new cleaning regime of using alloy wheel cleaner fluid worked superb now done both old prop & new feathering so will now put a high polish on them using sisal disc on 9" grinder and brick of metal finish.

5 minutes with some brick cleaner will free the blades.

No, I don't know of anything that works, other than frequent use. :encouragement:

See previous thread on cleaning props

Brick cleaner gave me the idea but thought up to 30% hydrocloric acid could be too strong - can't remember do you add acid to water to dilute or water to acid?

Wheel cleaner is approx 1% hydrocloric acid and phosphoric acid and it doesn't seem to harm rubber valves etc ( got plastic blade stops/buffers)

I never diluted it. "Paint" it on with a 1/2 inch paintbrush. (Do not get any splashes on your skin and especially not in your eyes! I wore goggles.) You do need to give it a thorough rinse off with fresh water though once it has done its work.
