Gentlemen, i am in the process of building a new yacht and wish to keep the weight down to the lowest possible. I dont want to install a saildrive with a diesel or petrol engine or have a outboard hanging over the stern. If i can install a outboard with a folding prop same as a sail drive this to me would be a good solution. So please`guys put your thinking caps on and give me ideas or companies who can help. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

What sort of boat? Many small boats with internal outboards have a way of lifting the leg without removing the engine from the well.

Type of boat 8 mtre trailer sailer, we are considering twin shallow draft bilge keels, the main reason for keeping the outboard in the water, is that the position we want to install it is restricted for space whilst under sail. We intend to lift it while the boat is in the berth.

Have you considered an electric saildrive (see sillette sonic site) then you can put a small generator whereever you have space and carry as many batteries as you need for distance to be motored.
