re the post about folding bikes we have seen (mainly) American cruisers using the montague folding mountain bikes with great success. The link is as follows
http://www.montagueco.com/

Now, has anyone got any ideas about how you could transport a heavy toddler by bike when cruising???

Re: Children’s trailers:-

We see these all the time in Holland and Belgium, Where they are also used for carrying dogs (those that are two small for the front basket)!

The “Trailer bikes (also known as tag-alongs, add-a-bikes and trail-a-bikes)” as seen on the website referred to in the above post, are also very widely used here, giving the kids good riding experience and presumably helping a little with the pedal-power.

Hi,

If you are considering a full size folding mountain bike have a look at the Dahon site, Matrix etc, and then compare bike and prices to a German site, www.rabbit.com and Compass Marine's full size offering. They are all spookily similar save gear & brake specs etc. Rumour has it that they are all made in the same factories in China/Taiwan.

The moose now have 2 Rabbit Ali Mountain Folders and have been very pleased with them. Bike hire hasn't always been available and they have proved great for sightseeing/shopping (with rucksack) as you can actually cycle out of town or to the next market down the road even if its up hill or down a lumpy track!

The bikes have to be very well secured as they do attract a lot of attention, so far fortunately only from other cruisers.
