I dare say that all those of you out sailing today will have noticed that the visibility was suboptimal. We didn't go out but I popped down to the boat briefly and then we called by in Walton to see if the sea was still there; it wasn't. Just before I got into the car again I looked over my shoulder and saw this fogbow, the first I have seen for a few years. There is a faint tinge of colour in a fogbow, which is interesting because it is cause by diffraction, unlike a rainbow.

Very odd weather today. I dropped down from Heybridge and am now in the Pyfleet. Fluky winds from all directions combined with clearly defined lines of heavy fog coming in from the NE. Zero vis for an hour, then fine for a while before back in to the fog again. The banks looked like multiple line squalls coming up the river. A bit like the scene at the beginning of The Incredible Shrinking Man!

Great photo btw...
