just competing my third DIY camper conversion but my question has a boating connection.
previously for the a long settee/bed mattress I used a foam sandwich, half firm and half soft ( this is my wife's berth and she is rather like the princess and the pea!!) in the day the mattress is firm side up and at night flipped over.
My reasoning was that firm side up the load was spread so that the soft lower bit didn't squash too much and that soft side up the squidgy bit had a lower layer which kept sharp bits like hips off the hard base.
has anyone else done this and is it really better than just getting a 'medium' foam anyway?
