:confused:Foam or Form crest dinghy in GRP

Has any one information on the above dinghy

I Know they are made plywood as a kits in 1970s, but what about GRP ! later on

This dinghy maybe just under 12ft long 3.66m or at( 11ft 5 or 6

Beam may be just under 5ft =!

If any one knows who made them this would be a great help.

Regards mike re Hopch-Potch dinghy

Foamcrest

The Foamcrest was designed by Percy Blandford - he published the design in 'Practical Woodworking' in 1970.

Dimensions:
Length 12' 0"
Beam 5' 0"

According to a Percy Blandford book I have, boats were built in plywood and GRP by "various builders, mostly amateur." Not much to go on there, sorry.

A choice of Balanced lug, Gunter sloop or Bermudan sloop for rigs.

Sail area 66 sq.ft (6.13 sq.m) or 80 sq.ft (7.43 sq.m)
Apparently the bermudan rig was the same as that on his Wensum design...

Hope this helps...

Don't know if any companies actually manufactured these boats but I built a wooden foam crest in my garage in the mid 1970s I think it was my first ever sail boat. The plans I notice are still available online from a co. in America even has the same black and white photo that came with the plans.
Great little boat.
